Starting You're Own Business

and how do you find the name of your busines
I just started and that's where I'm at the moment...

that's so hard!

You can name your business anything you want. Marketing and branding are probably more important than the name itself. There are a few principles to keep in mind when naming: make it short, make sure your name isn't used by others, and make it simple to spell. Just think of all the stupid names out there that have huge success. For example, who the hell thought of the name youtube The first time I heard that name, I thought to myself, "what were they thinking " Yet, it's one of the most popular names out there are a hugely successful website.

Yeah maybe YouTube is a ridiculous name, Google is not a very nice name.. but for being so innovative now is like the word for search "Let me Google this". When I was a kid and Google wasn't big in Brazil, people called me Google Boy because of the quantity of search queries I did on the american Google.

There is also strange names like Orkut, Del.Icio.Us.. here in my country there is even e-commerce site with names that doesn't mean anything like a e-commerce that is called Submarine, and sell al kind of stuff.

Don't be to harsh on yourself to find a name, the creative stuff that comes to our mind, is when we are not thinking about anything.. anything at all. I say that by personal experience, I have created about 20 different names for my projects, and have to daily think about names for my Movie Scripts so the name doesn't suck.

If you want to facilitate do something that we call brainstorming, pick a piece of paper, and start to write eveything that comes to your mind when you think about, when you think about your company, when I say everything, everything, like if you think about sports cars write it down, and continue writing.. After sometime of thinking, you will pass the first initial stupid names and than start to find the new.. creative stuff.
