Re: Speed Reading Course

I have been training myself to use speed reading methods for some time, but my comprehension still drops greatly when i increase my reading speed. I can read at 350 wpm with almost 100% comprehension, but if i increase the speed to 500+ wpm, my comprehension drops to ~60-70%.

I have also heard that active visual thinking is crucial for speed reading success. Notice the active word in the previous sentence. It means that you completely visualize all details that you read. Does anyone here do this?

Also, subvocalization is one dreaded keyword in speed reading courses. While reading, i still hear the word sounds in my head. I'm not sure how could i get rid of this internal voice, but i think it's not so important, as long as you don't move your lips or limit your reading speed to your speech rate while reading.

Billionairekid, and other speed readers, what are your reading speeds? What training materials did you use (books, software, audio/video courses)?

I have read Paul Scheele's Photoreading book, but it looks like biggest scam to me. This method he teaches is in contradiction with pure reason and relevant neuroscience researches. If anyone can prove to me that reading at 4000+ wpm is possible, i will gladly read this book again, and again invest my valuable time to do some more practice.

Next, i have read and practiced with Evelyn Wood 7 day speed reading guide. Like Tony Buzan's speed reading book, it teaches you methods which can slightly boost your speed reading without comprehension loss, but i wouldn't expect three-figure percent improvement. On the other side, these books, like most of the speed reading books, teach you previewing and mental structuring skills which might help you boost your comprehension during reading and retention of the materials.

But my best results came from using AceReader and SpeedReader-X programs. I have trained for a few months with the first one, and it has almost all of the extrinsic ingredients necessary for speed reading success (eye training and warm-ups, speed reading basic training, etc...).

I didn't have too much success reading at 400+ wpm speeds, but i would like to reach that level. I have mentioned in the text that i have practiced all these techniques, but only when i felt like doing it (bad habit, i know).

I will need to insert this somewhere in my schedule and practice this skill further as i really need it. I have piles of books waiting for me to read them, but it will take ages with these old slooow-reading methods.

the best way for speed reading is VISUALIZING WHAT YOU READ ((Tested by me  ))
