Shy hi but wants to fly sky high!

Hi all,

Introductions have never been my strong point but I'm looking to change that! I'm an aspiring writer and author who often struggles to translate my stories from amorphous, fleeting thoughts to concrete words on a page. Don't get me wrong, I've got plenty of ideas but as of yet, neither the courage nor the time to flesh them out! I am in college right now and in a competitive honors-type program of study, so a chunk of my time gets placed on research papers, which I find a chore and a bore. My real love is fiction -- all kinds, sci-fi, romance, the classics and especially that which contains humor. So I'm a creative writer, very right-brained but also very self-doubting. I'm seeking a little guidance on how I can manage my time between schoolwork and studies, and creativity and fun. In terms of the creative process I'd really like help to quiet the inner critic and like the Nike ad says, "just do it."

I feel very fortunate already to have found this site. I like the name "Self Made VIP," but would like to add that no one is an island -- we as individuals might get the credit, but there's always a crew who helps captain the ship! I've read a little about the modes of self-help featured on this board...maybe a few folks here can offer some advice as to what would work best for someone like me. I'm encouraged already by the success stories I've read even here, and would sincerely love to include myself on the list!

writing stories as well!

W.r.t. to time management, I recommend checking out the book 'Principles of time and life management' (something like that) by Franklin Covey. Helped me juggle my priorities.

Might sound a bit "noobish" but what does W.R.T. stand for?

Also, I am curious, is that Covey the person who started the day-planner company I see advertised at the local Staples a lot?
