iPad is just like iPhone, not much time will pass till you find developers all over the world innovating readers for all types of ebooks for it, it's more of a raw material that you bend and reshape up to ur needs much like iphone. so there will be pdf readers which of course most of the ebooks online are in such format, and for regular ebooks well there will be readers for them too not in distant future i'm sure.

for the eye friendly thing, u can decrease the screen luminance much like the iPhone, it has 10 hours WiFi time which i doubt that the sony ebook reader would have, not to mention the difference in screen size where iPad can give u an almost live book scale experience and addition it's in colors while sony ebook reader (the new ones) are in gray scale!!

the highest model in sony reader which is the "Daily Reader Edition" is for $399, can supoprt up to a SD memory card of 32 GB (which you will add its cost to the reader's of course), the 16 GB iPad is for $500 and supports wifi, add another $130 and u can access the web via 3G, and eventually u can get an increased memory of 32GB or 64GB for an increased cost of $100 or $200 respectively.

i think there is no place for comparison but yet every soul has it's own mate

iPad is shit compared with the near to be released Notion Ink Adam Tablet, with Pixel Qi screen and Tegra 2 powered. Google it.

although i haven't seen a decent video demo for the Notion Ink Adam Tablet, but from what i've read seems pretty interesting and definitely it has much more options than iPad. i dunno about if it has the same price range or the same touch quality as ipad though. anyways, too bad these kind of products aren't release in egypt since Notion Ink isn't much of a famous brand around here
