Read a 125 page book in 45 minutes without brakes

The title says it all actually, it sounds like me showing off but i wanted to share this with you because everyone could do it, of course if they want .

How it started?
I didn't woke up that morning (actually i woke up pretty late as i usually do) thinking "I want to read books like superman", no it was not like that, i was shopping near the book store than i got this crazy idea, what if i read this book (a book about delivering speeches in less than 30 sec, the average attention span of most people) right here, right now, as efficient as possible without spending money to buy it, then put it in a dusty place and forget about it, bad habit i am sure you don't have it

How i did it?
I was determined to do it, i wanted to prove myself i was capable of doing it, to boost my self esteem, to be honest i needed it badly. So without further delays, because i know nobody likes to read a big post, i give you the tips:
+ Stay focused, How you do that? You read as fast as you can so your mind can't wonder
+ Don't verbalize words in your head, don't worry you will understand without doing this, you we're programmed by others to think that
+ Time pressure helps, so you can't afford to take breaks, i had a meeting in 45 minutes so i could afford to procrastinate
+ Be rested, don't do this when you are very tired
+ It helps if you have a rich vocabulary, or if the book is easy to read, meaning it has a few ideas, like 95% of them.
+ Last but not least, I WAS DETERMINED !

So now after you saw what an average joe like me did, i know you will do it as well if you want, JUST DO IT!

PS: It will not work on all kind of books of course, especially rich content ones like cyclopedias or so, but it could still work, remember the 4 minute mile?

PPS: I know i will hear greater success stories than mine on this matter, so until then, thank you for reading my little achievement

this is great post and i agree with everything you said also try not to reread over what you already read and use your finger or pen as a pointer if its a book and if your reading a pdf use your mouse cursor i find this helps me so i dont lose the spot im in. sumtimes listening to classic music in very low volume helps my mind from wondering.

You just speedread the whole book in 45 minutes? Was it a fiction or a nonfiction? That is amazing, congratulations on your achievement. And here is to many more!!

I'm happy you find it useful pipboy, i tried to make it as motivating and practical as i could. Thank you for pointing the tips i missed, yes no rereading was a key aspect, although i did it a little in some places, but i am aware you can't do it perfect from the start Also the pen/pointer following is a good tip, but i find it to slow me down (The hand is quicker than the eye they say, it's true but not repeating the same action for thousand of times)


My pleasure chezzy62, i did it because i get very motivated when i hear other people achievements saying "If they could do it, then i can surely do it as well, since they are human as me (as far as i know they aren't aliens, neither am i )
I did read/listen/watched speed reading courses like Evelyn Wood, Brian Tracy and Protoreading (Paul Scheele), but that was long ago. I always practiced to improve my fast reading/understanding of the text i read.
The book was about personal growth (How to Get Your Point Across in 30 Seconds or Less)

Of course i consider myself above average (blame my big EGO) but i try to suppress it, and when i stop and think: "How am i really in comparison with all those great people?" Answer: An average joe with a little more determination

Already planning my next big achievement, a really HUGE one actually, but it will take a couple of months, even years. But you may never know what great opportunities tomorrow will bring
