Leadership and Presentation Seminar (SUMMARY)

Post by viktorados on Tue Sep 23, 2008 7:13 pm

I have just returned from a corporate seminar on presentation for our TOP management,
here are a few bulletpoints and ideas that I liked.

1) The ideal presentation is no presentation at all
(when by your body posture, look, previous contact -> you receive the outcome)

TOP-management presentations should last less than 1 minute
(the manager looses his attention usually after first 20-30 secs).
But average presentation can be 4-5 mins.

2) Focus always on the outcome!!! and on what the audience is interested to hear about.
Try to find out about the audience as many details as possible.

3) Structure your presentation:
a) Intro: "SHOW ME THE MONEY!" (tell what is your product/solution, what "money" effect it will have)
b) qualities of the product
c) final words (closing the sale)

4) Your body posture: streight, hands parallel to the body (not in pockets), direct look into the listeners' eyes, low pitch voice (comming out from your body center)

5) Before going to your audience do a set of physical exercises to bring you in form (hands/wrists/shoulders/etc movements)

6) "Own the room" trick: visualise yourself to increase/grow in size and occupy whole room

Here are a couple of very professional speeches
(watch the body language, pauses, usage of 3x words/phrases etc):

These speeches (if analysed piece-by-piece) are great examples of professional presentations!!!
