Is CashCrate a scam?

I've always heard that if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. That could be true, or it could be just a "red herring" to dissuade the "little guy" from achieving the same heights as the nouveau riche. Anywho...

On some other site (I can't remember exactly where) I read about ways of making "passive income" or money that does not come from hourly pay. Right now I do not hold a "day job" because I simply cannot envision myself working for "the man" and subjugating myself to small-time supervisors with larger-than-life heads. So one of the sites mentioned was called CashCrate, one of those survey sites where they pay you to answer questions about products and things, and reportedly some people have done reasonably well. I'm not talking Trump/Buffett figures, but a halfway decent extra little something. (Anything is better than $0 which is what I have now.)

My question is, or questions are, how do these things work, and if they even do, how do you get paid? Do you have to have a credit card attached for direct deposit, or can they send a check to your mailing address? I don't have a credit card but a debit set up by my folks; if I have to link a card, can it be a debit?
