How to Keep motivation Day in and Day out

Hey guys, I've been in this "personal development" community for about 3 years. I've devoured books on success, positive thinking, entrepreneurship, time management, etc. Today, I consider myself a very "productive" person in a way that I can manage my time very effectively and achieve some short term goals. However, I noticed that I'm not "consistent". Because I am a college student and run my own start up I am overwhelmed with stuff to do all the time. In a metaphorical way my motivation is like how the car runs on gas. When I read a good book, or see someone overcome some great obstacles I'm motivated and I can get a lot things done. In other words, how effective I am is proportional to how motivated I am at that time.

I was wondering if any of you guys have found a great way to keep your motivation. I've noticed that people who are constantly motivated are usually foreigners (from undeveloped, impoverished countries). Foreigners who had a tough upbringing and have an uncanny drive and determination to achieve their dreams.Some of the world's self made millionaires have had some sort of rough situation, disadvantages, etc yet they were able to overcome it because of their motivation and drive to get to a better place. I find it hard for me,someone who had a normal upbringing and solid support all his life to have that kind of drive. Any ideas, comments, on how I can achieve the same drive that these people have?

Try to use Positive screensaver (http://www.motivation4everyday.com), that show every day a new motivational quote from famous people and give you a boost of motivation every day.

It's interesting how you mention growing up in a normal (i.e.: comfy) upbringing, which makes staying motivated harder than for someone who comes from a tougher situation.

I had the same situation until my father lost his job and I lost my comfort net...then I started hitting my success goals faster!

It makes us realize that the:
"The enemy of great is not bad.
The enemy of great is good."

And that the worst thing that can happen to us is to get comfortable (which is what is happening to me currently lol but I'm okay with it.)

Based on that, I recommend finding ways to make yourself feel uncomfortable again.

Make yourself feel uncomfortable with your life situation, just enough for you to want to change!

For me, whenever I feel like I have a decent income and a decent lifestyle with decent circumstances, I go out and find pictures or people (or anything) that makes me jealous and envious.

This makes me want to genuinely improve!

So a question you can ask yourself: Who am I envious of and what do I want? Or even, who do I want?

Wanting to attract a person of the opposite s** is a great motivation tool as well, imho.
