Help: Can`t focus!

Post by Seeker on Fri Oct 31, 2008 2:29 pm

Guys and Girls,

I need some help. Whenever I want to learn something new, I find myself being very excited about the new information. The problem is that I get excited very fast. So a few days later I find something new and again I m sure that I want to learn this. So I start always learning new things without finishing or without mastering anything :( How can I trick myself to focus on one subject only

Your problem seems to be that you get distracted easily or you are impatient. Try to calm your mind. Try out some meditation. Here's some music to help you out:

If you want to do it online, here's a nice site. This site has online audio to help you out.

Something that has work for me is to write down your purpose, your goals.
Write what you want to achieve and follow the steps of your plan, look at them every day.
You can achieve mastery little steps at a time.

Go to the following post,

Good luck.

Hi seeker. A big thing that helped me was hypnosis. If you go to hypnosisdownloads.com you will be able to download a hypnosis session in mp3 format for only a few dollars. I usually do it in the morning before i start my day and find it to be an extremely useful tool. Last time they had a special on a procrastination mp3 also so i got both of them and used them together. Improving your focus a little each day using this technique is best advice i feel i can give you. Good luck and i hope this helps you :D

Hi Seeker,

I totally understand where you are coming from and have lived that experience. Here's my comments:

#1 - Learning is exciting and fun, never stop and don't beat yourself up - it is great that you love to learn and thanks to the internet and all of this magical sharing we can learn tons in a short amount of time. I have found much of this knowledge from learning and trying so many things to be helpful later at seemingly random times.

#2 - Realize that by not focusing enough in the same direction you are not moving very far, if you wanted to sail your boat to Hawaii but didn't have a map it is unlikely that you would make it there. If you did have a map but everytime you got half way there you turned around and came back that wouldn't work either. Sounds like you are getting this. The "pain" of this experience is directing you to ask for help, congratulations, I think this is totally normal for some personality types.

#3 - Get out some paper and a pen and write down what you have tried so far - what the results were, what you are wanting - when you want it, and what you are most excited about doing. Get it out of your head and onto paper. Create a plan on how you will get what you want by when you want it, break it into steps. Now, take that plan and tape it on the wall in your bedroom where you will see it many times a day. After you do this, take a break and come back to it a few hours later or the next day. What you may find is that as your state of being changes your outlook may change. You may need to tweak the paper, make some adjustments this is normal. BTW - Make your plan when you are in a positive state of being and never tweak the plan when you are in a negative state of being, very important.

#4 - Stay focussed on what you want and remind yourself that if you don't cruise in the same direction you won't get to your destination. However, you might on this hypothetical journey take a train part way, then a bus, then a plane - I don't think it helps to be rigid about taking the train and then have the train break down and be stranded and refuse to take the bus.

#5 - Meditate. Sit still in a comfortable position and focus on your breath for 30 minutes plus. The "higher self" part of you has the fun job of helping you by giving you inspiration (ideas, realizations, epiphenies) and is on the mountain top and sees the terrain that you are in. If your mind is too busy though, you won't be able to receive the msgs. In my experience the msgs come like "light bulb moments", not as words.

cheers
