Robots are ok to use provided you know the strategy the are programmed to use and that you are able to trade the strategy manually. This assures you know the rules for the strategy and how the trades play out. Also, I would never use a robot that would not let me control the risk.

I do you use robots as a part of my trading. I know the strategies they use inside and out and can trade the strategies myself without the robot. The robot in my case monitors the few pairs I trade for the setup I would be watching for if I were able to sit on front of my computer 24/7. The robot simply sends me a text message letting me know it has taken the trade and applied the initial stop loss and take profit. They are swing trades and I take over from there and manage the trade myself. My robots are ones I had someone to develop for me after I knew the strategy I was using was profitable. Commercial "Black Box" robots are usually scalping robots that can take 100's of trades a day and can easily ruin an account.

Know how to trade profitably first!!!...then have someone create you a robot to automate your entries so you aren't tied to charts on your computer. That is when robots are most effective.
