Finding Balance in Life

Post by foreversunny23 on Sat Jun 07, 2008 4:19 pm

This is just my observation. To simplify things, I believe there are two sides to life. One side is the intellectual side. Basically being by yourself, educating yourself, and finding your identity. The other side is the social side. This involves interacting with others and building social bridges.

I'm just wondering, how do you think you should spend your time Do you devote more time to the intellectual side or the social side How should you best spend your time

It depends on the circumstances. Generally, it think it should be pretty much equal, 50-50. The most important thing is not to waste time. Its so easy to procrastinate and get distracted from your goals.

Both are important, but not in the same degree. If you are true to yourself you will gain better acceptability and people will recognize you for your values. Ultimately nobody wants a talented but snobbish and selfish person as a friend, acquaintance or employee or even a business partner.

How do you think you should spend your time - well, this sounds like another one of those big questions that Socrates used to ask from strangers...

Both areas are counter-productive.

You shouldn't take things so literally and divide you time by percents. Everything has it's time and place. The best way to improve your social life is just to socialize when it's time to socialize. Whenever I am going out or to a social gathering, I never think, now I am going to devote time to my social side of the life... You just can't do that. Your actions and posture would look unconfident and fake. When ever you have some free time you should improve your intelectual life. Spend your time wise and lear a new skill or principle. It doesn't matter weather I do it by reading a book or traveling to a new place. You have to balance it to your work schedule and lifestyle and let it go by the natural flow, because all these areas are counter-productive anyway - you improve one area of your life and other tends to improve as well. For example, once you have improved your intellectual side you will find that it's easier to converse with larger variety of people. If improve your social life, make new friends and acquaintances, you will soon find that every new person you meet adds something to you intellect.

Also, don't forget that there are also other sides to life. Keep your spirituality, mind and body also healthy and up to date...

i it is hard to divide time equally to all you major goals. However, you need to have FOCUS. irrespective of other goals, there is always an overriding one.
