Do You Write Your Goals Down?

Re: Do You Write Your Goals Down?
We all know that it's important to have a clear list of goals and would be better to have it written on paper (and not simply in our mind).
Generally motivators talk about the urge to write that list of goals and targets (for example Brian Tracy or Steve Scott).
I totally agree with that practice.
Unfortunately it's not so easy, sometimes we are confused about our real expectations or purposes.
I have that list and I review it almost daily.
Sometimes it's not simply a list but a motivation document to update frequently.
Mine is a text document (password protected!) where I write my targets divided in short term (1 month), medium term (1 year) and long term (5 years). I make periodically corrections to keep it updated.
It's not so easy to start daily looking at that document, at the beginning I was a bit lazy but after a few days of practice I have to say that it was really easy.
It takes 5 minutes or less and using that list you can simply understand what are your priorities and what are the unimportant things.
It's a great habit and I strongly suggest you to try it.

I incorporate my goal writing into my blog or other activities. I think it takes the "I have to do this" and turns it into "I want to do this."

Re: Do You Write Your Goals Down?
Bill Bartmann suggests to call them "promises" instead of goals.
A promise is something you want to keep and want to come true, while a goal tends to be something you'll TRY to attain.
Make it a PROMISE to yourself.
