Re: Do hypnopsis tapes really work?
I was double skeptic of it - 1) if it works at all and 2) if it would work for me since I am not a native speaker.
(Though my English was already quite well developed back then)
My experience was that it certainly did have a noticeable effect on me, but I really couldn't tell you if it was helpful in any way.
"The Sphinx if Imagination" by Hypnotica is the most powerful I used and I also heard a lot of good stuff about it.
I think it helped me to get a bit more creative in my thinking, at least short term but it is really hard to judge if it helps.
Personally I think it does a little since audio has an effect on our subconscious as well as pictures do. But I don't really use hypnotic audio anymore. The main reason would be that I doubt, that major personal breakthroughs can be achieved just by listening to tapes so I didn't continue to use them and instead focused more on other things that could get me going - for my problem was (and sometimes still is) procrastination above all other things that held me back from achieving goals.
PS: I answered your eMail, did you get my response

I have experimented with self-hypnosis using own recorded sessions, had quite strong results.
Own recorded sessions You mean like affirmations (I like myself, I like myself, I am rich...
I think there is quite a difference between hypnosis and affirmations though - both have some sort of influence on our subconscious, no question. But I think hypnosis is more about getting you into an "extraordinary state of mind" in order to make quick changes in your subconsciousness, while affirmations are about installing new beliefs in your skull by something you could call a "brute force" attack on your old beliefs. Essentially just quieting down negative self-talk by overwhelming it with masses and masses of positive affirmations.
Both things are similar in a way but I couldn't tell which brings better results though I would tend to think that affirmations have more potential if applied right and listened to over extended periods of time.
But I doubt that they in turn are as effective as real hypnosis (by a real professional, not just audio).
EDIT:
@ viktorados: could you explain what you did and over what periods of time
